About OSEM
Our background
Oxford School of Emergency Medicine (OSEM) is an annual conference hosted by Emergency Medicine professionals from the Thames Valley Deanery. It provides a platform to showcase research, hear from leading speakers, participate in interactive workshops, and discuss current developments within the field of Emergency Medicine.

Originally founded by doctors in training for trainees in the region, OSEM has since evolved to represent the entire Emergency Medicine community. The conference welcomes doctors, nurses, physician assistants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, healthcare assistants, paramedics, and other allied health professionals who contribute to and celebrate this dynamic specialty.
Held in Oxford, OSEM has expanded its reach beyond the Thames Valley, attracting delegates from across the UK and internationally.
2027 conference
Our theme this year will focus on diversity.

Emergency Medicine demands breadth, adaptability and confidence across a huge range of clinical presentations. OSEM 2027 will focus on upskilling the ED practitioner across key areas including critical care and resuscitation, paediatrics, trauma, acute medicine, mental health and beyond — developing the knowledge and practical skills needed to deliver excellent care.
Alongside clinical learning, we will celebrate the diverse people, backgrounds, experiences and perspectives that make Emergency Medicine what it is. Through a focus on equality, diversity and inclusion, we aim to reflect our community, challenge perspectives and celebrate the diversity that makes our specialty stronger.
